ABOUT Erin
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Erin developed a passion for Indigenous history when she first entered university. After travelling to England and teaching English in Taiwan, she moved to Ottawa to pursue a Masters in Canadian Studies.
Erin Strachan has been working for and with Indigenous peoples since 2001. Through listening, teaching, determination and creativity, she has helped her clients come together to address complex community needs. She has facilitated workshops across the country with enthusiasm and a sense of humour.
One of her proudest accomplishments is initiating a social enterprise Thrift Shop/Food Bank in Baker Lake, Nunavut. She has helped build the capacity of local people to combat food insecurity in their community in innovative ways. She has been serving this society in a supportive capacity since the spring of 2016. Erin is skilled at drawing wisdom and experience out of even the quietest people to build holistic, long-term solutions to urgent community needs.
